A simple ceremony on May 28, 2006 at the Diocesan Shrine of Saint Anthony of Padua, Pila, Laguna will mark the 400th year anniversary of the writing and printing of the Vocabulario de Lengua Tagala.

The town of Pila will offer the Vocabulario de Lengua Tagala to the Blessed Virgin Mary during the Flores de Maria ceremonies. The offering symbolizes the dedication of the book to the Blessed Virgin Mary by Fray Pedro de San Buenaventura OFM. It also epitomizes the more than 400 years devotion of the Tagalogs to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

For the next seven years, the 400th year anniversary of the compilation and printing of Philippines' oldest printed dictionary will be celebrated together with the Flores de Maria festivities. Fray Pedro de San Buenaventura OFM started writing the Vocabulario de Lengua Tagala in our town on May 20, 1606 and the printing of the book was completed on May 27, 1613. Fray San Buenaventura dedicated the Vocabulario de Lengua Tagala to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
